When you log in for the first time, some link router does not require a user name, but EA6500 has a default user name, and it is similar to the password: admin. The default IP address of the Linkes EA 6500 router is similar to most linkys router: 192.168.1.1.  

When the Linksys EA6500 Default Password Doesn't Work

At some point during the life of your particular Cisco Linksys EA 6500 router, the default password was probably changed, which is a good thing, and you have forgotten what changed it. No worries, you can restore the software to your default state on EA6500 just to restore the default password. How to Restore to Factory Defaults You usually restore a router using a special button or sequence of actions. Here's how it's done on the Linksys EA6500:

• With the router plugged in and powered on, turn it around so that you have full access to the back.
• With a paperclip or something else thin and pointy, press down on the Reset button for 5 to 10 seconds and hold it down until the network cable lights flash at the same time.
• Remove the power cable from the router for 10 to 15 seconds and then plug it back in.
• Give the Linksys EA6500 30 seconds to fully boot back up before continuing.
• Make sure all the cables are still attached and then turn the router back around to its normal position.
• With the EA6500 reset to factory defaults, you can log in at 192.168.1.1 with the default username and password (both are admin).

  Make sure to save the default router password on your EA6500 as soon as possible. Then, use a free password manager so you never forget your new password. At this point, now Cisco Linksys EA 6500 has been reset, any custom settings you entered in the router have been excluded and need to be re-entered. This means that the wireless network SSID and password have gone away, any custom DNS server settings have been removed, and the port forwarding details have expired. What to Do if the E1200 Default Password Doesn't Work

If the administrator's default password does not work for your E1200 router, it means that it has been changed to something else, perhaps something more secure. Although this is a good thing, it means it is also easy to forget.

Fortunately, you do not have to buy a new router or simply avoid logging in to your router - you can reset it back to the factory's default settings, which will restore the default information from above.
This is how to reset the Linksys E1200 router:
01-Start by making sure the router is plugged in and powered on normally.
02-Flip the router over so you have access to the bottom.
03-With something small and sharp, like a paperclip or pin, press and hold down on the Reset button for 5-10 seconds.
04-Flip the router back over to its normal position and then wait another 30 seconds for the Linksys E1200 to fully reset.
05-Now unplug the power cable for a few seconds and plug it back in.
06-Wait another 30 seconds or so for the Linksys E1200 to power back on.
07-Now that the router has been reset, you can log in with the default username and password of admin as described above. Use http://192.168.1.1 to access the router.
08-Don't forget to change the router password now that it's been restored to the way-too-easy-to-guess password of admin. You can store the more complex password in a free password manager if you think you might forget it.

After resetting the router, all settings are flushed and restored outside of the box, you will have to re-configure all the customization settings like any wireless network settings (such as SSID and wireless password), DNS server settings , Port forwarding options, etc.
One thing that you can do to prevent re-configure of that information again in the future after the reset, is to back up the router configuration in one file.

Linksys E4200 Default Password

Linksys E4200 Default Password is “admin” for the router. This password is case-sensitive, so make sure you spell it here as if we do not have any capital letters.

The user name field can be left blank because E4200 does not have the default user name.

Linksys E4200 has a default IP address, however - 192.168.1.1. You are connected to the router to log in.

Note: Linksys E4200 v2 is sold and marketed as a separate router compared to the E4200, but it is a slightly upgraded version of the same device.

The default password for both routers is the same, but v2 needs to be entered as a user name.

When the Linksys E4200 Default Password Doesn't Work

If you are not working with the default administrator password when trying to log in to your Linksys E4200, it probably means that you have changed the password to a safer, but you have forgotten what you chose.

This is a warning to choose a new password - it is a great practice but it also means that you cannot easily understand what it is. However, if you forget your E4200 password, then you can reset your linky router to your factory default settings so that password administrator can reset (you can reset it again when you are resetting it ).

Here's how to reset the E4200 router:

1. Make sure the router is plugged in and powered on.
2. There should be a light on somewhere to indicate this, like around the network cable or somewhere on the front of the device.
3. Flip the router over so that you have access to the bottom.
4. With something small and pointy (like a paperclip), press and hold down the tiny Reset button for 5-10 seconds.
5. The idea here is to hold the button down until all the port lights flash at the same time. The Ethernet port lights are on the back of the router.
6. Wait a good 30 seconds for the Linksys E4200 to reset, and then unplug the power cable for a few seconds.
7. Plug the power cable back in and wait another 30 seconds or so for the router to fully boot up.
8. Now that the E4200 has been reset, you can access the router at 192.168.1.1 with the default information from above. Remember that the admin username is needed for the E4200v2.
9. You need to change the router's default password now that you've reset it to admin, which is not a secure password. To encourage you to make a complex password, and to avoid forgetting it again, you can store it in a free password manager.

Resetting E4200 does not just leave the user name and password, but also does not have any other custom settings you have configured. For example, if you had a wireless network installed before resetting the router, you would have to reenter that information - SSID, wireless password etc.

If you want, you can back up those custom settings in a file so that you can restore them all at a time if you ever have to reset the router in the future. This is done through the administration of the router> Management menu. There are some screenshots that you can use for reference on page 61 of the E4200 User Manual, which is linked to the bottom of this page.

Linksys E2500 Default Password:  For all versions of Linksys E2500 N600 Router, the default password is the “admin”. With most passwords, the E2500 router default password is case sensitive.

4. Unplug the power cable for 10 to 15 seconds and then plug it back in.
5. Wait 30 seconds before continuing so that the E2500 has plenty of time to boot back up.
6. Confirm that the network cable is still attached to the computer and router.

When You Can't Access Your E2500 Router

Now that the settings have been restored, you can access the Linksys E2500 at 192.168.1.1 with the “admin” default login information for both the user name and the password. 

Make sure to change the password of the router to something safe, as well as the username if you want an extra layer of security. It's a good idea to store a new password in a free password manager so that you never forget it.

Now, you need to reconfigure your wireless network settings because resetting E2500 has removed all your custom ones. It has your network name, network password, and any other custom settings configured such as port forwarding rules or custom DNS servers.
